Lindsay Melvin
Marketing & Outreach Coordinator
Lindsay Melvin is a 2008 graduate of the George Washington University. At GW, Lindsay studied Communication and Exercise Science and played 4 years of varsity lacrosse. Upon graduation she spent a year interning for the Baltimore Ravens in the Community Relations department. She thoroughly enjoyed giving back to the Baltimore community and impacting the lives of youth, the homeless and especially local hospital patients. The loss of a dear friend inspired Lindsay to become involved with the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, and she is now currently the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator for UCF. Lindsay enjoys her job as it allows her to serve and support the cancer community, and more specifically college students who have been impacted by a personal cancer diagnosis or the diagnosis of a friend or family member. Lindsay aspires to spend her life making a difference in the lives of others and being a prominent voice in the cancer fight.
1) How did you become involved with the UCF?
I was first introduced to UCF when a co-worker inspired me to sign up for the Iron Girl triathlon as a part of TEAM FIGHT. I signed up initially because I had recently lost a friend to cancer and completing an endurance event seemed like a great way to pay tribute to her.
2) Outside of working at UCF, what’s your idle wish dream job?
I thoroughly enjoy working for UCF and in the cancer community, and I hope to continue to work in the service or non-profit industry where I have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people impacted by cancer or other hardships.
3) What is your favorite moment working at the UCF?
My favorite moment at UCF was watching the husband of a UMGCC patient cry when UCF gave him a car full of Christmas gifts for his children.
4) What do you do when you’re not working?
When I am not working, I enjoy being with my friends and family, trying to stay in shape, and visiting the beach. On the weekends you can probably find me at IKEA shopping for my new apartment in Federal Hill!
