Gina Darby is from Bronx, New York. Gina’s mother is presently battling breast cancer. Gina is a graduating senior and a member of the National Honor Society. Gina mom says, "Be strong, whatever comes your way you will get through it...Life is short, and demanding." Lindsay Brown will be a senior at Oakland Mills High School in Columbia, MD. She lost both her father and mother to cancer. Her father died when Lindsay was eight years old and her mother died in October of 2002. Lindsay has been a member of the soccer, basketball and lacrosse teams at her school. She has been actively involved in plays, musicals and choir productions at Oakland Mills and hopes to pursue a career in the performing arts. Read Lindsay's story...

Kerri McDaniel
Kerri McDaniel, a Montgomery College student, lost her mother to breast cancer in November 1994. At home, family life deteriorated as she contended with her father’s various chronic illnesses. His condition worsened, sending Kerri further down an emotional spiral that led to anorexia and bulimia. Christmas morning of 2001 Kerri’s father passed away from lung cancer. Despite tremendous adversity, Kerri consistently maintains a high GPA in school and works with young children at a local school.

Nicole Sica
Nicole Sica’s mother died of cancer during a very tumultuous stage of the young girl’s life. Left without a parent to teach her how to drive or applaud at her high school graduation, Nicole relied on her own inner strengths to stride forward. She delved within herself to uncover courage, integrity, and determination. Pushing for independence, Nicole embraced education as a means to achieve, and continues to push herself towards her goals.
