Rise to Action - DC April 12, 13 and 14

The UCF is partnering for a third time with the Children's Cause for Cancer Advocacy in the planning of this important conference for young adult survivors of childhood cancer and their families. Past conferences include D.C. Region October 2006 and New York City Region October 2007. Elizabeth Saylor, UCF Program and Grants Manager, will attend the conference and facilitate a breakout session on Intimacy and Sexuality. Elizabeth is a master's prepared social worker and 24 year survivor of rhabdomyosarcoma.

A new, exciting component of the conference will be the Survivors' Lobby Day (Monday April 14), which will allow survivors and families to participate in advocacy training and meet face-to-face with Congressional representatives, to tell their stories and discuss important survivorship legislation. The UCF will again help to sponsor the conference by providing educational scholarships. Five participants, whose names will be drawn at random, will receive funding for secondary or post-secondary schooling. Look for their stories in our summer newsletter.

Please visit www.childrenscause.org to register or contact Elizabeth at elizabeth@ul manfund.org.
