"SunGuard Your Skin" curriculum

The UCF is one of the inaugurating members of the Coalition for Skin Cancer Prevention in Maryland. The Coalition's mission is "to increase skin cancer awareness and provide skin cancer prevention education to the citizens of Maryland. It is the central goal of the coalition to promote behavior that is likely to prevent skin cancer and ultimately to make such behavior so familiar to the citizens of Maryland that it is established as a social norm."

SunGuard Your Skin, a two-lesson middle school curriculum, was developed by the Coalition and taught to over 30,000 students in more than 100 public and private schools. The program, consisting of a teacher's guide, student booklet, parent letter, and video, has demonstrated significant positive changes in knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors.
